In order to purchase a permit to build a bonfire on the beach in
Walton County, you must go the the Walton County Sheriff's
Substation on Highway 331. The station is one mile north of
Highway 98 on the east side of the road. You must have cash in
the amount of $50 as credit cards are not accepted. The
Substation will provide you with a permit and a burn barrel. It
is valid for the one night only! Leave the burn barrel on the
beach and The Tourist Development Council will be by to pick it
